Pre Tour: July 27 – Meet us at Georgian College in Barrie for packet pick up and bike packing. Take advantage of competitive GWTA overnight rates at Georgian College, also our Long Term Parking location.
Day One: July 28 – Early morning departure from long-term parking in Barrie for Sault Ste. Marie. Optional afternoon ride to Lake Superior. (25 km one way). No gravel today. Overnight in Sault Ste. Marie in the Delta Inn with it’s stunning waterfront location. Opening night dinner to meet your fellow riders.
Day Two: July 29 – Ride Sault Ste. Marie to Bruce Mines. (73 km) Optional ride to St. Joseph Island (25 to 50 km). Gravel Grind: 10km. Overnight in Bruce Mines.
Day Three: July 30 – Ride Bruce Mines to Blind River. Side-trip to Thessalon. (95 km). Gravel Grind: 19km. Overnight in Blind River.
Day Four: July 31 – Ride Blind River to Espanola. Gravel Grind: 22km. Overnight in Espanola. (109 km)
Day Five: August 1 – Ride Espanola to Sudbury. (81 km) Gravel Grind: 3.3km. Overnight in the Travelodge hotel.
Day Six: August 2 – Charter bus to long-term parking in Barrie from Sudbury.
Terrain & Route Overview: Combination of country roads and off-road multi-use trails including some hilly terrain. Sections of gravel (54 km in total; 14km is the longest stretch). 50 km on HWY 17, a provincial highway with shoulders, designated as part of the provincial cycling network (six sections; the longest is 23 km).
Daily Distances: 65 -107km (40 – 67 miles)
Support: Daily luggage transportation, mechanical assistance, shuttles from designated rest stops.
